For entertainment directors and guest programmers
A pop-up storytelling experience for the high seas.
Get Puppetty turns each guest into a small paper puppet of themselves, then helps them tell a story along the way. Portable, photo-friendly, language-light, all-ages, and produces an immediate keepsake guests take home.
A Note on Where We Are Going
This is the chapter David is writing next.
Get Puppetty has worked beautifully in senior communities, schools, and events across California, Arizona, and Nevada. The ship and the resort are the natural next stage. If you are an entertainment director, guest experience lead, or activities programmer at a cruise line, river cruise, all-inclusive resort, or destination club, David would love to talk.
Why It Fits
A cruise activity needs to set up fast, run for many guests, and produce a moment guests want to share.
-
Portable
A table, a printer, paper, pens, a few simple supplies. No stage rig, no green room.
-
All ages
Families, kids, teens, adults, and grandparents can sit at the same table.
-
Language-light
The visual mechanic does most of the work. A puppet of you is a puppet of you in any language.
-
Privacy-clean
Photos print on site and are not stored. Guests appreciate this. Compliance teams do too.
-
Keepsake
Each guest leaves with a tiny puppet of themselves. That puppet ends up in stateroom photos, post-cruise reviews, and family group chats.
-
Modular
A 30-minute pop-up. A 60-minute workshop. A 45-minute headlining performance. A multi-day arc tied to a theme cruise.
Where It Fits on a Ship or in a Resort
Six formats, one underlying mechanic.
-
Sea-day pop-up
A Puppet Portrait studio in the atrium, lounge, or pool deck. Drop-in, fast, photogenic.
-
Kids' and teens' clubs
A 60-minute workshop with story prompts and puppet making. Take-home outcome and a clear narrative arc, which programmers tell us is rare.
-
Adult evening show
A 45 to 60 minute interactive performance where the audience helps shape a story using puppets they have just made.
-
Family night
A multi-generational session where parents, kids, and grandparents make puppets together and tell a story across generations.
-
Themed cruise programming
A multi-day arc tied to a literary, cultural, or special-interest cruise. Guests build characters early and perform a small showcase before disembarkation.
-
Curated dinners
A small-group meal where the food, the wine, and the puppets share the table. See the hospitality crossover below.
The Hospitality Crossover
David's other thirty years.
Beyond performance, David has spent more than three decades inside hospitality. He has worked in high-end restaurants, served as a sommelier, and designed curated food and performance experiences where the meal, the story, and the room work together. He would love to bring that side of his work to sea.
What that could look like onboard:
-
A wine-and-story evening
A small-group dinner where David pairs each course with a short story prompted by the guests at the table. Each guest receives a puppet of themselves at their place setting and uses it to tell a story matched to a wine.
-
A captain's table format
A specialty dining room turns into a participatory storytelling room for an evening. Six to twelve guests, three courses, a few wines, and a story per course built collaboratively at the table.
-
A port-day teaser
A short pop-up before disembarkation where guests make a puppet "first impression" of the next port and improvise what their puppet might do there. A coming attraction for the day.
These are sketches. David is open to building the right format with the right cruise or resort partner.
